Local authority chief executives and senior managers were notably absent in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Belfast City Council chief executive Peter McNaney received a CBE as did former Liverpool City Council chief executive Peter Bounds. The deputy commissioner of the London Fire Brigade, Rita Dexter, received an OBE.
