Decision on Welsh council cull looms

Number of Welsh councils to emerge from the local government reorganisation could be determined this weekend.

The number of Welsh councils to emerge from the country's local government reform process could be determined at this weekend's meeting of the Labour party's executive committee.

A decision on the future shape of Welsh local government was set in motion following the publication in January of the Williams Commission, which recommended streamlining the number of Welsh councils from 22 at present to between 10 or 12.
