Defra hails value of waste

The UK’s domestic waste sector generates £6.8bn for the economy every year, according to a government report.

The UK's domestic waste sector generates £6.8bn for the economy every year, according to a government report.

The report on resource management, which was issued by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), said the sector currently generates around £6.8bn for the economy and supports around 103,000 jobs in the UK.
