Delight at car giant's vote of support

The chief executive of Ellesmere Port and Neston BC has welcomed news that the local Vauxhall plant will produce the new generation Astra.
The Ellesmere Port plant will produce 180,000 of the new cars a year, starting in 2010. ‘We lobbied strongly to keep production of the new generation Astra in the borough and feel the decision is a tribute to the hard work and efficiency of the workers at the plant,' said council chief executive, Stephen Ewbank.
