Delivering dignity, safety and respect

Good social and health care is built on three key principles: the individual is at the centre of the process, care and support deliver improved health and the relationship between user and provider is based on respect, writes Zoe Patrick.

In last week's Spending Review the Government announced a £3.8bn pooled budget for health and social care services shared between councils and the NHS to deliver better outcomes and greater efficiencies through more integrated services.

This includes a £2bn transfer from the NHS to local authorities for 2015/16 and comes on top of the existing £1bn NHS transfer as set out in the 2010 Spending Review and the £5.45bn two-year public health funding settlement.
