Coronavirus was the second highest cause of deaths among care home residents behind dementia last year, according to latest figures.

The Office for National Statistics said there were 155,376 deaths of care home residents in 2020 in England, an increase of 18.5% compared with 2019 (131,149 deaths) and 18.3% compared with the five-year average between 2015-2019 (131,384 deaths).
