Levelling up civil servants have told council chiefs financial pressures have eased but watchdogs have warned other Whitehall departments may be driving local government's costs.

The MJ understands that analysis carried out by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has acknowledged some continued costs pressures, but concluded they were not as pressing as last year.
