Housing chiefs have condemned mooted Conservative manifesto plans to extend the Right to Buy scheme to housing association tenants for compounding existing problems.

The comments follow claims a revamped Right to Buy could form a cornerstone of the Conservative Party's attempts to woo skilled working-class voters in key campaign constituencies – efforts that could involve ‘gifting' tenants their homes in exchange for securing long-term work.
