Details of Scottish local government finance settlement announced

The Scottish Finance Secretary John Swinney has announced a free school meal programme, as part of the next year’s local government finance settlement.

The Scottish Finance Secretary John Swinney has announced a free school meal programme, as part of the next year's local government finance settlement.

Speaking yesterday, Mr Swinney said £241m of additional funding has been allocated since the Draft Budget 2014-15, including £54m to give children access to a free school meal and £35 million to fully mitigate the impact of the ‘Bedroom Tax'

The minister also announced £6.5 million to support administration costs of the Council Tax Reduction scheme
