Devolving more powers to local government is the only way to manage the fallout of Brexit on the UK, the mayors of Greater Manchester and Tees Valley have said.
Speaking at a Communities and Local Government Committee hearing today, Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham said: ‘I feel the answer to Brexit is much further and faster and deeper devolution across the country so that areas can be more self-sufficient and can take more decisions for themselves and not be beholden to a policy that doesn't work for them.'
