Devon and Somerset councils have signalled to the Government they could be interested in joining the combined authority race.

The two county councils have submitted an expression of interest about devolving power and working more closely in the future.

The local authorities are looking for increased responsibility for transport and infrastructure, education and training, as well as economic development

'It is very, very early days but we have submitted an expression of interest after speaking to Somerset,' said Devon CC leader, Cllr John Hart.
