How digital technology transformed care in Enfield

Enfield is using data to understand people’s lives like never before and helping to transform and evolve adult social care practice to deliver the best outcomes. Kerry Gumble explains.

At Enfield LBC we support a high population of older people and people with learning disabilities. In adult services, our practitioners were enormously stretched, case-rich and time-poor.

Logging in to multiple systems, jumping through access barrier hoops, calling other organisations to check records, asking citizens for information when they had already supplied the same details to multiple agencies, and dealing with out-of-date details because information was stored in silos and not one central location. These were all barriers to productive, flexible day-to-day working which cumulatively took time away from our practitioners.
