The direction of devolution in the nations

Devolution in England is a key instrument in the Labour Government’s economic growth agenda, but what does the future hold for the devolved nations? Tim Edds gives his take following the Autumn Budget.

While the direction for devolution in England is relatively clear under the new Government, the same can't quite be said for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

An extra £6.6bn was handed out to the devolved nations in the Autumn Budget to support public services during 2025/26 in what the government called the 'largest real-terms funding settlement since devolution', yet it has otherwise provided mixed signals.
