DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE SERVICES

Employer: Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service

Salary: £100,675 + 5% out of hours availability allowance + car allowance

Closing Date: 26 September, 2011.

Eastleigh, Hampshire. 1 year temporary contract (with possible extension or permanency after the initial contract period).

Moving forward, our goal is to be the best Service in the country. You will play a key role in helping us to achieve this ambition by realising the aims of our Corporate Plan.

As a member of our four strong Directors' Group, you will be at the heart of delivering improvements in everything we do. Critical to your success will be making sure we manage and use our resources cost effectively and in sustainable ways. You will personally lead and manage a wide range of corporate support functions including: financial, procurement, property, vehicle fleet, information & communications technology services.

Joining us at a particularly challenging time for the public sector, you will drive organisational change to create a culture that is responsive to change and pressures on the Service. We will look to you to maintain sound working relationships between members of the Authority and Officers so as to ensure that our corporate priorities and objectives are met.

You must be able to demonstrate experience of working at a strategic level, have astute political awareness, and an understanding of how a local authority works. Ideally, you'll have experience of working in a complex, multi-site organisation.

You'll be expected to forge effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, so superb communication and negotiation skills are vital. Self-motivated, and passionate about the aims of the Service, you'll not only bring a track record of improving services through strategic planning, but you'll also be excellent at managing the day-to-day business.

This role could be considered on a secondment basis for candidates from other public sector organisations.
