WHITEHALL

Director of Resources and Organisational Development

UK Border Agency

Based in London with UK and international travel.

The UK Border Agency is an executive agency of the Home Office and is a global organisation of around 14,000 people operating in about 130 countries worldwide. The Agency's primary aim is to protect the public from people who would abuse the UK's immigration law. The UK Border Agency works closely with a range of law enforcement agencies, other government departments and other areas of the Home Office, including Border Force. The UK Border Agency is responsible for significant contracts for example in relation to visa application centres and our detention estate.

The Agency is now seeking a new Director of Resources and Organisational Development. This is a key role to the success of the agency and you will have responsibility for all aspects of financial planning and management during a time of severe financial constraint. The immediate period ahead will see considerable change including the development of ICT solutions and a major international reorganisation of the agency and you will be expected to successfully deliver this change in an organisation that faces intense public, media and parliamentary scrutiny. This is a fast-paced role in a high profile government agency of national and international significance.

The Role:

A member of the Home Office leadership group, providing corporate leadership for, and beyond, the UK Border Agency.

Leading on all aspects of financial planning and management, delivering significant savings while improving performance.

Responsible for HR, organisational design, ICT strategy, commercial strategy and major agency change projects.

The Candidate:

A qualified accountant, though not necessarily working as such, with a track record of successful financial planning and management in a large and complex organisation who is able to work on a range of projects outside the traditional financial environment.

Senior corporate leadership experience in a government or similar organisation with the ability to operate in a fast-paced political environment.

A commercially minded individual who brings direct experience of managing costs while improving productivity and the quality of services delivered to the public. Most of all you will have the ability to make our financial plans a reality by supporting the agency to manage its people, contracts, assets and enablers of change.
