'Disappointing' response to merger plans raises Welsh minister's ire

A Welsh Government minister has lambasted half of the 22 councils in Wales for failure to respond to proposals on how they should be merged voluntarily.

A Welsh Government minister has lambasted half of the 22 councils in Wales for failure to respond to proposals on how they should be merged voluntarily.

The comments were made following today's publication of summary report of 170 responses to the Reforming Local Government White Paper.

Under proposals outlined in the Silk Commission, the number of councils in Wales is to be reduced from 22 at present to either 12, 11 or 10.
