Paul Shevlin discusses Craven DC's revised taxi licensing policy, which has prevention at its heart.

District councils are at the forefront of public protection – this is why I'm delighted that Craven councillors have just approved our revised taxi licensing policy. It aims to set a much higher standard for licensed taxi drivers in Craven, with a more robust fit and proper test, which encompasses recently published guidance from the Institute of Licensing.

We have been through a rigorous process to draw up this new policy, with a huge amount of consultation between officers, councillors, members of the public and members of the taxi trade.
