Department of Health (DoH) reveals plans to distribute funding to local authorities according to need.

The Department of Health (DoH) has revealed plans to distribute funding to local authorities according to need, following the devolution of health responsibilities from next April.

In the department's latest update on local government health funding, published on 14 June, officials outlined a funding system partially based on the standardised mortality rate for people aged below 75 years – under which the areas with the highest mortality rates could receive significantly more funding than those with the lowest.
