Doncaster MD in 'bullying' probe

An independent investigator has been called in to consider allegations including ‘bullying and harassment' against Doncaster MBC's managing director Susan Law.

It was expected the council's investigation committee would clear Ms Law last week of allegations including one of no confidence, when the new claims arose. Ms Law has been on leave from the council since mayor Martin Winter reportedly held a secret meeting with his cabinet to draw up a list of allegations against her. Relations between the two soured when Ms Law called in the fraud squad to investigate a community project previously run by the elected mayor. Alastair Robertson, hon secretary of ALACE, said the latest allegations against Ms Law were ‘vindictive' and ‘motivated by revenge' and the case would lead to a financial burden for the people of Doncaster. ‘We feel this all relates to the fact she embarrassed people for correctly going to the police,' Mr Robertson told The MJ. A council spokesman said: ‘The council is very surprised that ALACE has made a public statement on this confidential matter. ‘The council will not divulge any details of the matters under consideration.'
