'Duty to collaborate' over homelessness call

Labour-led London Councils has called for a ‘duty to collaborate’ to be placed on five Whitehall departments as part of the Government’s long-term homelessness strategy.

Labour-led London Councils has called for a ‘duty to collaborate' to be placed on five Whitehall departments as part of the Government's long-term homelessness strategy.

It comes as research from charity Shelter found an estimated 354,016 people in England were homeless on a given night this year – a 14% increase from the previous year's estimate of 309,550 – amid a severe shortage of affordable social housing.
