A report into the economic health of the east of England has revealed the region’s local residents and businesses receive alarmingly-low levels of public investment per capita.

A study by the East of England Development Agency, published on 8 October, notes that the region's residents ‘receive the second-lowest levels of public spending per head in England', and suffer from ‘significant' under-spending when compared with economic need.
