Local authorities should be given extra financial headroom in exchange for driving further back office efficiencies over the next five years, council leaders have urged.

The reaction follows David Cameron's appearance on the BBC's The Andrew Marr Show, in which he was questioned over concerns of adult care funding shortfalls raised by Conservative-led councils in Devon and Tatton.
