EfW contract delay?

Cllr Jeremy Hilton, leader at Gloucestershire CC has asked for the award to build energy from a waste incinerator to be delayed.

Cllr Jeremy Hilton, leader of the Lib Dems at Gloucestershire CC has called for the award of a £500m contract to build an energy from waste incinerator to be delayed.

Cllr Hilton has asked the local Conservative-led cabinet to hold off awarding the contract for the Javelin Park site to Urbaser Balfour Beatty until after planning permission is granted and a permit is issued by the Environment Agency, saying it ‘could put undue pressure on planning committee members…to avoid the severe financial liabilities' which the council would incur if the incinerator were later cancelled.
