Some £4.2bn a year is needed to help the unmet care needs of the million people aged over 65 struggling to cope on their own, analysis published today by Age UK has revealed.
Age UK said the amount, which is equivalent to less than 4% of the annual NHS budget of £112bn a year, would help sustain the NHS at the same time.
