Devolution deals across the country are in danger of collapsing over demands for elected mayors, with the Government under fire for its ‘lack of honesty'.

An offer for Warrington and Cheshire was this week ‘put on hold' by local authorities over the Government's ‘insistence' on an elected mayor while North Somerset Council last week voted against accepting the West of England devolution deal following serious concerns over governance.
