Managing director of Local Government Employers, Jan Parkinson, said the decision had ‘not been taken lightly', and councils ‘have to ask their whole workforce to recognise the need to limit spending in all areas'. As inflation has risen to 4%, the move means workers will effectively see a pay cut from last year.
