'End crisis' in social care, says alliance

'End the crisis' in the social care system, an alliance of more than 40 charities tells the Government.

An alliance of more than 40 charities, healthcare organisations and private operators has called on the Government to ‘end the crisis' in the social care system.

In a joint letter to the health secretary Andrew Lansley, the heads of 45 organisations, including the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, the English Community Care Association and Macmillan Cancer Support, said the current system needed reform – particularly existing funding practices.
