End of the road for Thatcher statue

South Kesteven DC had been looking at ways to brighten up its roundabouts, and the idea of a statue of former prime minister, Margaret Thatcher, was mooted by Cllr Stephen Hewerdine. But the lady, who has already been the subject of a sculpture by Neil Simmons was not for turning into stone, and made it known she would prefer to be commemorated with a learning centre. The council has now ditched the idea, fearing any effigy of Lady Thatcher on a roundabout would lead people to run into the road to have their picture taken with it.
