Time to end the two solitudes of health and local government

Michael Burton says health professionals and policymakers are still not considering local government's role in supporting the NHS.

As I sat last week in a hot, crowded room at the House of Commons listening to yet another debate about the bed blocking crisis I recalled, as you do, a phrase a Canadian writer once coined in 1945 to describe the lack of communication between the Anglophones and the Francophones in Canada.

He called it ‘the two solitudes'.
