English cities invited to bid for City Deals

Ministers have named a further 20 English cities invited to bid for City Deal status.

Ministers have named a further 20 English cities invited to bid for City Deal status – potentially giving them greater powers to drive local economic growth.

Announcing the areas allowed to bid for controls over transport, infrastructure and skills, deputy prime minister Nick Clegg said the first wave of City Deals represented ‘a quiet revolution across the nation's eight largest cities'.
