ERG 'must improve savings'

The Government’s efficiency taskforce needs to improve some of its processes behind how it calculates savings, the NAO has warned.

The Government's efficiency taskforce needs to improve some of its processes behind how it calculates savings being made by Whitehall departments, the National Audit Office (NAO) has warned.

A NAO report into the Efficiency and Reform Group (ERG), which was set up by the Cabinet Office to help other departments cut costs, said while its overall methods to back up savings they claim have been made are adequate, there are weaknesses in some categories.
