Essex CC wins legal fight over nursery funding

Essex County Council has prevailed in a High Court battle against education secretary, Michael Gove.

Essex County Council has prevailed in a High Court battle against education secretary, Michael Gove, over threatened £10.7m cuts to nursery school funding.

Mr Justice Mitting ruled yesterday the education secretary's failure to consult in June 2010 when demanding the authority review its spending and identify uncommitted funds had breached equality laws.
