Haringey LBC has become an official partner in a European Union climate change campaign.

EU officials chose the London borough to join its sustainability energy Europe 2005-08 campaign in recognition of its work locally to promote green issues and cut carbon emissions.

Given a belting The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) has condemned plans to change theEast Midlands regional spatial strategy, which it claims will delete parts of the Nottingham green belt.

The green belt is Nottingham's green lung and provides muchneeded open space and tranquillity for residents as well as agricultural land and wildlife habitat,' said CPRE regional policy officer, Bettina Lange.
