Misinformation has swirled around the concept of 15-minute neighbourhoods, says Martin Esom, but as one of the pioneers of the approach, Waltham Forest has seen a host of benefits for communities.

In the news, on social media and in town centres across the country, there has been lively debate about what 15-Minute Neighbourhoods are. Will people be locked into their local areas, fined for leaving them more than 100 times a year and forced to cycle? The misinformation is both worrying and well organised.

In places such as Oxford, Cambridge and Bath there have been loud protests. At times their ferocity has been concerning and caused confusion for people who want to understand what 15-Minute Neighbourhoods mean for themselves and their families.
