The Local Government Association (LGA)’s attitude to senior pay has been branded as ‘divisive’ by chief executives union ALACE, after it emerged that its own staff have been given a pay rise.

The Local Government Association (LGA)'s attitude to senior pay has been branded as ‘divisive' by chief executives union ALACE, after it emerged that its own staff have been given a pay rise.

The rise happened despite the employers' arm of the association's refusal to negotiate on the current pay freeze faced by chief executives and senior officers earning more than £100,000.
