Returning officers have called for protection against lawsuits for running this year’s elections if the Government sticks to holding them in May during a pandemic.

Solace president Joanne Roney and the group's spokesperson for elections and democracy, Louise Round, made the call in a letter to electoral law minister Chloe Smith.
