Council personnel managers are dismayed at being left off a key board set up to oversee the newly revamped local government pension scheme and its 89 funds from next year.
The board, which is currently in shadow form and will advise the secretary of state on pension changes, was agreed by unions and the Local Government Association (LGA) as well as featuring in the Hutton report on public sector pensions. It will include councillors and unions along with pension experts and treasurers, and councils were last week invited to make nominations.
