A fresh round of local government reorganisation has not been ruled out, the Government's local growth tsar, Lord Heseltine, has told The MJ.

Lord Heseltine's report on UK growth, released in the autumn, called for a shift towards unitary status for local government. But sources at the DCLG were quick to dismiss the proposal almost as soon as the former Conservative deputy prime minister's study was released.
