Arm's-length bodies created by councils in Scotland have been warned over the size of salaries and bonuses paid to their top people.

A report by the Local Government Information Unit Scotland said an estimated 400 arm's-length external organisations (ALEOs) providing everything from museums to property development often saved money and improved services.
