Exit payment rules are over-regulation, experts claim

The Government’s latest attempts to crack down on exit payments have been branded as over-regulation which will hit lower paid staff more than the senior officials it was aimed at.

The Government's latest attempts to crack down on exit payments have been branded as over-regulation which will hit lower paid staff more than the senior officials it was aimed at.

Plans to restrict payments to £95,000 have been released, which will need secondary legislation, without a date for implementation. Under the new rules, exemptions have been extended to cover unfair dismissal and discrimination in addition to the original plans to exempt whistle-blowing.
