The Local Government Association (LGA) is calling for urgent action to extend an insurance safety net to tens of thousands of householders whose homes are at a risk of flooding.

An agreement between the Government and the Association of British Insurers (ABI) to provide affordable cover for flood-risk homes is due to expire next year, and council leaders are pressing for speedy action to have it renewed.
