Like many councils, we have an annual staff awards scheme. Ours is called GEMs – Going the Extra Mile. The awards are organised by staff, all nominations are made by staff but the judges are predominantly external business people.

Having spent the morning with the judging panel, it was great to be reminded of so many of our achievements over the year that make such a difference to individuals and communities.
