GMB national secretary for public services Brian Strutton predicts the trade union is set for an ‘angry' conference in Nottingham next week – amid frustration caused by deadlock over the local government pay offer.

Mr Strutton told The MJ he expected the GMB's ballot for strike action, which runs from 13 to 27 June, would result in mass walkouts on 10 July involving up to two million workers across local government, including teachers and the wider public sector.
