Fears for stability of councils haunt chiefs

A survey by consultancy firm PWC reveals council chief executives and leaders are worried about the future stability of other authorities.

Council chief executives and leaders are worried about the future stability of other authorities, a survey by consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) has revealed.

Despite acknowledgement that councils have managed the first phase of local government cuts well, the survey found four out of five chiefs and leaders were concerned the cuts would lead to at least one council failing financially by 2015.
