Councils have been accused of ‘dragging their heels' on equal pay, amid fears many female local government workers are still ‘losing out' on wages.

Heather Wakefield, head of local government at trade union, Unison, told The MJ tightening local authority budgets could not be an excuse for inaction on equal pay claims and warned many women in local government were still being paid ‘much less than they should be'.
