Field calls for social housing overhaul

Labour MP Frank field has suggested an overhaul of the social housing system, after new study of London's allocations.

David Cameron's poverty adviser, the Labour MP Frank Field, has suggested an overhaul of the social housing system after a new study of London's allocations suggested that nearly half of new tenants were born abroad.

Mr Field, the former Labour welfare minister recruited by the prime minister in 2010, said the current social housing system was a 'scandal' and urged council's to allocate housing based on contributions people have made to society, The Sunday Times reported yesterday.
