Figuring out the figures

When the secretary of state points out you should be grateful for your gruel, don't swallow it, says Heather Jameson.

While training as a journalist, one of the recommended texts on my course was a book entitled How to lie with statistics.

Ipsos MORI's Ben Page has always been swift to remind me that he has statistics on how trusted journalists are compared with council officers and politicians. The answer is ‘not very trusted at all'.
