From fiscal ping-pong to raiding reserves

Editor Heather Jameson says the Labour Government is making no secret of its financial favouritism.

It has been many years since former Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy chief Rob Whiteman wrote a piece for The MJ, describing the shift in funding that comes with a change in government with the immortal phrase ‘the ping-pong of fiscal gerrymandering'. 

Following on from last week's local government finance policy statement, we can now consider the gerry to have been well and truly mandered by the new regime.
