Durham CC is flying the flag for England's World Cup football team and will keep the Cross of St George aloft at county hall as long as the national team remains in the contest.

Helping council leader Ernie Foster raise the flag was the 90-year-old son of one of the players who won what is regarded as the first World Cup competition in 1909.
