Food for thought

Jane Marcroft looks at the third stage of this year’s Local Government Challenge, the tasks of which had something of a culinary flavour.

Harrow LBC hosted the third stage of this year's Local Government Challenge, which sees aspiring chief executives from across the country take part in a series of tough, real-life tasks for the chance to win the Bruce-Lockhart scholarship.

This time round the 10 eager, if a little anxious, contestants were asked to draft up an action plan for the development of the area's food sector to help promote this area of West London as a gastronomic destination. With such a diverse population, the borough is served by a fantastic array of cuisines and the task was how to align this food focus into the council's regeneration strategy.
